Doodling Who I Am

Have you ever wondered who you are? I used to hate when a therapist or advisor would ask….”Who is Alison?”. It was as if they got kicks and giggles out of asking because they knew I would be stumped or struggle to tell them. Now however I can’t wait for the next time someone asks me that question because I know exactly how to answer!!

I am who and how God wants me to be. I’m a work in progress, but even still, I am God’s masterpiece! And He will keep working on me until the day He brings me home to heaven. I am so many wonderful things in His eyes through the blood of Christ!

Take a look at my Bible journaling doodle of who I am:

Who Is Alison?!
Who Is Alison?!

I would like to challenge you to do the same! Remember that it doesn’t have to be perfect!! I believe it is important to start with Jesus - He is our Tree of Life, so I chose to start with a simple tree and then I researched what God says we are in His Word. I would suggest that those that ring true to you or maybe even are surprising or eye opening to you are the words you should put on your tree. Remember there is no right or wrong and you can include as many or as few as you choose. Write them or decorate it in whatever way feels right to you.

If you would like some tools for reference, you search for “who I am in Christ” or “my identity in Christ”. Also, below is a great resource but I encourage you to open your Bible and read more!! And if you aren’t opposed to writing in your Bible, perhaps you could circle the words as you find them along with the date you visited that verse.

If you are intimidated by the thoughts of drawing a tree, don't let that hold you back - simply find an outline of one you can print off and that can be your starting point. Another quick and easy solution is to print the resource above and color, decorate, or make comments or notes directly on that page. It doesn't have to be difficult - your goal is a creative and unique way of spending time with God and meditating on who He says you are! What a wonderful opportunity to grow closer to in your walk with Jesus!!

I would love for anyone who attempts this to post a picture of their work if comfortable or at least comment on your experience!
